500 Pound Bomb Accidentally Dropped on US Troops in Afghanistan

A bizarre and potentially deadly incident occurred recently at the Paktika Province in Afghanistan, after U.S. Army troops were accidentally bombed by their own airstrike.  The troops seen in the video apparently located Taliban members in the distance and called in an airstrike to assist with their 60mm mortars and engage the threat.  However somehow, the a jet carrying a 500 pound bomb got the coordinates for the enemy’s location mixed up and wound up dropping the bomb on their own troops.

Fortunately no friendly casualties were reported from the bombing, but a few troops were pretty disoriented after the accidental bombing.  It remained unclear as to what caused the pilot to mix up the coordinates of the enemy forces and fire on its own troops.
