Oprah Winfrey Teaming Up With Brad Pitt To Produce MLK Biopic
It’s only fitting that on Martin Luther King Day we receive this news about a new Martin Luther King biopic in the works. According to The Wrap, Oprah Winfrey has just joined in to produce the MLK biopic Selma, along with Brad Pitt. This movie will also feature actor David Oyelowo as Martin, who played Oprah‘s son in the movie The Butler.
“Selma” chronicles three marches from Selma to Montgomery in 1965, the first of which was known as “Bloody Sunday” because cops attacked marchers with clubs and gas. The protestors were seeking an equal voice in elections, which they got (at least in writing) with the passage of the Voting Rights Act later that year.
There’s also a few other MLK movies in the works. I guess it will be a battle for who can bring the movie to the big screen the fastest in 2014.Similar Posts:
