Quietly, Drake Donated Money to Portland Homeless Shelter (@Drake)

At about 3 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4, the 27-year-old artist, accompanied by his bodyguard, walked by the Union Gospel Mission of Portland, saw how many people were sleeping in the dining room area and decided to make a donation right there on the spot.

“Drake was in Portland for his concert. He was out checking out the nightlife,” Stacy Kean of the Union Gospel Mission of Portland exclusively told E! News. “While he was out, he saw we had our emergency cold weather shelter open. He came in and talked to our overnight supervisor, asking, ‘Hey, what’s going on here?'”

The overnight supervisor explained to Drake that since the conditions were so cold, they were trying to fit as many people in as they could.

A source told E! News that Drake came in and said it “touched his heart” and proceeded to donate some money. While the Union Gospel Mission of Portland doesn’t disclose donation information, the source noted that it was a “cash donation.”

“It lets me know that even famous people got to have hearts for those who are less fortunate,” said Dave Willis of the mission, “It brings them back to reality – ‘Hey I could be here. I could have been here.'”
