Trump Parodies Drake's "Hotline Bling" on "SNL"

Sia was the musical guest on last night’s episode of “Saturday Night Live”, which was hosted by Donald Trump. In addition to the official musical performances, the show featured a number of musical parodies, including one that we should’ve all seen coming: a parody of Drake‘s “Hotline Bling”.

In the sketch, “Drake” (Jay Pharoah) defends his dance moves even as Dads, Physics teachers, and accountants everywhere boogie down to the song. (Trump played the accountant, and at one point even sang the hook of the song.) The parody also featured Martin Short as Ed Grimley, who insists that Drake “stole his moves”.

Later, Cecily Strong, Vanessa Bayer, Sasheer Zamata, Leslie Jones, Aidy Bryant, and Kate McKinnon parodied M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” video with a number of bad girl moves, including “not paying for lemonade”, “using a sock as toilet paper”, and “leaving ice cream in the bread aisle”.

Sia, meanwhile, performed the singles “Alive” and “Bird Set Free”, which appear on her forthcoming album This Is Acting. During the performance of “Alive”, Sia was joined by a choral emsemble and a modern dancer who never left her space under a single spotlight. The performance of “Bird Set Free” featured the same dancer, this time wrapped in a cocoon of black fabric.

Watch both sketches and Sia’s performances, below.

This Is Acting comes out January 29, 2016.
