Cannes 2015: Naomi Watts, Julianne Moore and More Stars Who Apparently Got a ‘Wear Feathers’ Memo

Prepare for your newsfeed to be inundated with glamour for the next 12 days. It’s Cannes Film Festival time! For the uninformed, every May, Hollywood’s elite ladies (and gentlemen) travel to the French city for the annual international cinematic showcase to debut their new films, as well as their jaw-droppingly gorgeous gowns on the red carpet. And although the festival is only hours underway, there already seems to be a theme happening in the wardrobe department. Feathers! And lots of ’em.

Naomi Watts wowed in a plunging embroidered (with both sequins and pearls!) Elie Saab Haute Couture creation with a long feathered skirt and a dramatic cut-out back. And not to be overshadowed by the dress, check out that dazzling diamond pendant around her neck. Overall, we give this beautiful ensemble an A+.

Julianne Moore, who’s never one to disappoint at the festival, opted for an embellished Armani Privé gown in her signature dark shade. The actress teamed it with a pair of diamond-and-emerald Chopard earrings and a slicked-black do. But the feather detailing isn’t new for the star. Last year, she dazzled in a Chanel Couture lamé organza tunic, adorned with sequins, pearls and feathers, which she wore over a coordinating skirt. “She really does love feathers, loves birds,” Moore’s stylist Leslie Fremar told PEOPLE. “It’s just something that she loves, she loves feathers and she loves birds.”

And finally, actress/model Laetitia Casta brought her fierce feather game to the red carpet in a dramatic Erik Halley sheer cape adorned with gold feathers, which she wore over her black-and-floral gown.

Who wants to place bets on what other trends will be coming out of France this week? Capes? Flowing trains? All sheer everything? (The Met Gala was all about it, just saying.) Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Which dress is your favorite? Who are you most excited to see on the red carpet? Sound off below!
