Oftentimes, we see little kids flaunting long, shiny tresses and wonder: how exactly can this tot have natural hair longer than me when she hasn’t even been on this earth long enough to know what a “co-wash” is?

Chances are their parents found a regimen that works, along with age-appropriate styling that allows their hair to be tucked away for weeks at a time.

Protective styling is key for all naturalistas, no matter the age, if you want to see length retention and strong curls that haven’t been overly manipulated and stressed. The problem, however, for younger curly girls (and guys) are finding age appropriate hairstyles that will allow them to rip and run all day without sweating out, playing with their tresses, and most importantly, protective their young curls!

Check out these protective styles that are perfect for back to school season.

To achieve this look, have your stylist add marley braiding hair to your child’s natural strands. This will allow the style to last a little longer, and gives length for older kids.
