It hasn’t been too long since Nicki surprised everyone with her 360 degree image change, but it’s safe to say that her departure from over-the-top wigs and tutus was the best decision she ever made. In August Alsina’s “No Love” music video, Nicki’s hair and makeup give life in every way you need it. The look in particular that had me checking to see if my box braids were still attached to my head, was the plum lip she wore towards the end of the video.

Not only is the look flawless, it’s perfect for fall with a deep plum red lip and sultry brown eye. Show out the next time you step out, by following these four steps to achieve this look. Maybe you’ll be a certified edge snatcher too!

1. The Perfect Base

At one point in the video it looks like Nicki is sans foundation, but for the look we’re going for you’ll need a medium to full coverage foundation. Once that’s applied and well blended, go cray with concealer a shade or two lighter than your skin color under your eyes, on your forehead, chin and down the bridge of your nose.

One major mistake people make with this super bright look, is not blending the concealer well enough. Do yourself a favor: blend, blend, blend. And when you think it’s looks good enough, blend some more. If you’re the type to fill in your brows, now is the time to do this as well.
