LFW – The Outfits
So what did I wear to London Fashion Week this season? Comfort was the main issue for me, the legs weren’t coming out for anybody and each outfit consisted of multiple pairs of tights, chunky heels and maximum thermals. I’m not one to wear the super smart ‘uniform’ that consists of a pencil skirt and stilettos, plus I only really put sunglasses on if there’s a risk of being blinded. It’s funny to think that everybody dressing to the nines and wearing these considered combinations will inspire the trends for next season and so on. I’m quite happy in my practical bubble thank you very much, it may not be the kind of fodder for street-style galleries but it’s a true reflection of what I felt like wearing on any particular day.
Coat – A.P.C
Jumper & Shorts – Orla Kiely
As a blogger, people will often lend me stuff to wear and I don’t usually take them up on the offer. Mainly it’s because I fear a messy ketchup kinda situation but also I find that when you own something, it takes on a bit of your personality and becomes a part of you if you wear it enough. I’ve worn my A.P.C coat so much that it feels really homely and cosy. However when I was given the chance to take part in an Orla Kiely flashmob of sorts, I thought it would be a great chance to wear some bits I’d been eyeing up at the SS14 presentation. These shorts are now on my wishlist, they’re a bit bonkers and different to the kind I usually wear but I’ve proved that they can be versatile with a pair of tights.
Coat – c/o Warehouse
You definitely need an army of coats to take on this crazy weather and this recent addition by Warehouse has helped alleviate any boredom I was having with my current selection. You may recognise the Antipodium dress from this post and this is the second time I’ve worn it. I wasn’t intending to buy it in this print but it’s really grown on me due to its striking nature. I managed to secure a MAC makeover, always a highlight as I get my face sorted out and discover a few new products along the way (note to self, invest in lipliner). The make-up artist had actually heard of my blog, which is always a bit surreal. I loved the daytime smokey eye she created and felt sad to remove it at the end of the day. Can someone please invent nail wraps for my face please?
Jeans – c/o Paige
Necklace – Tatty Devine
Scarf – Johnstons of Elgin
I wasn’t planning to come into London on Sunday but a last minute change of plan meant that an outfit was needed. This is more of a I-can-leave-the-house version of what I wear on my off-days, jeans and a top with trainers. I always go into Granny mode when I see others in ripped jeans but surprisingly these didn’t make me feel cold at all. Feeling confident, I even braved a bit of ankle and was luckily rewarded with zero rain. My Modalu bag is compartment central and became a fave over the few days I was on the cobbles. I’m known as Kristabel Two Bags as I always carry an additional tote for my camera, but think that a more streamlined look is finally on the horizon with this one.
Jumper – Opening Ceremony
Shoes – Office (similar)
I hadn’t planned to buy anything specifically for Fashion Week but as you may have already read, I got a little bit distracted during a trip to H&M. This skirt literally yelled from the mannequins ‘BUY ME’ and is the perfect structured skater style that nips you in at the waist. My hair is looking a bit more K-Middy than usual thanks to Toni & Guy who provide a handy salon on site at Somerset House. I may be able to knit jumpers but I can’t blow dry my hair for toffee, so it was nice to emerge as a bit of a bombshell and ditch the hat.
Which look is your favourite? Today will be spent in my on-trend dressing gown, editing photos and reflecting on the past few days. More fashion stuff soon!
