Pump The Brakes: Octavia Spencer’s ‘Murder, She Wrote’ Reboot Scrapped
A few months ago posted a story about a reboot of the hit series Murder, She Wrote in the works at NBC starring Octavia Spencer. Well, it seems that not everyone was as excited about that idea as I thought, because TheWrap is reporting that NBC decided to drop the show. And who was the one who criticized the remake, which might have been the reason behind the show being dropped? The original Jessica Fletcher, actress Angela Lansbury. Cold blooded!!
The project was met with criticism by Lansbury, who starred in the original CBS series for 12 seasons. In an interview late last year, Lansbury said that she respected Spencer’s work but called the project a “mistake.”
“I think it’s a mistake to call it ‘Murder, She Wrote,’” Lansbury said, “because ‘Murder, She Wrote’ will always be about a Cabot Cove and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person.”
I can see why Angela feels the way she does but that’s the way reboots work. You take something, recreate it a bit and introduce it to a new generation. When it’s done right, it can even bring interest back to the original. I think she might have been sipping a little too much on her cup of Haterade.Similar Posts:
