Jarvis Cocker Sings Nautical Songs for BBC's Wireless Nights Prom

Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker was a host on BBC’s Wireless Nights Prom at London’s Royal Albert Hall tonight, performing to songs by Bach, Wagner, and Debussy, among other audio designed to soundtrack an “underwater dream”. As Stereogum reports, Cocker was backed by the BBC Philharmonic and the Manchester Chamber Choir, and discussed the psychology of Carl Jung while sharing real people’s life-and-death stories about the sea. Listen to the entire thing here, via the BBC.

In addition to hosting the show, Cocker also sang amid orchestral arrangements of Echo & The Bunnymen’s “Ocean Rain”, Tim Buckley’s “Song To The Siren”, and the Beatles’ “Goodbye.”
