Kylie Minogue Reads Nick Cave's Infamous 1996 MTV Rejection Letter

In 1996, Nick Cave wrote an infamous letter to MTV requesting to withdraw his Video Music Awards nomination for Best Male Artist. “My muse is not a horse, and I am in no horse race,” he wrote.

Kylie Minogue has read the letter as part of a video series put together by Letters Live, the live show spinoff from literary correspondence website Letters of Note. Watch it below.

Minogue, of course, duetted with Cave on “Where the Wild Roses Grow”, which appeared on 1996’s Murder Ballads—the record that got Cave so much attention from MTV, and prompted the letter. It all comes full circle!
