Social Media is such a double edged sword.  It can be used for good and evil.  If you’re ever had the experience of being online during a football match where Fox Sports reporter Pam Oliver is on the sidelines, you’re surely seen (or even participated) in the criticism she’s been getting in regards to her hair.  And Pam has seen it too.  But according to an interview she did with Philly.com, she doesn’t really give a lick about what you think.  She has a job to do.

“No, I wish it were so easy. It’s a process. I do my own hair and makeup – insert joke here,” she deadpanned. “I’m up early. I’m at the stadium about 4 hours before the game, just going over some last-minute stuff and then waiting for some players to come out, which is generally 2 hours before the game.

“You’re out there, trying a to catch players, get some last-minute stuff, get your reports turned around quickly, and I may or may not have time to put on lip gloss or powder my face,” Oliver explained, adding that she doesn’t have hair stylists and makeup artists with her on game day. “I know TV is a visual medium, but there are times when you kind of hope that people are listening to what you’re saying as opposed to judging you if a strand of hair is not in place or if you have only got one eye lined or something.”

Now, I give her props for basically telling everyone to shove it. I really do.  However, you HAVE to know that being on TV leaves you open for criticism.  Yeah, we all aren’t going to work with full makeup and hair done.  I personally only stick with lip balm or lip gloss and mascara, if you’re lucky.  But I know I’m not gonna be on TV.  All we ask is just a weekly appointment with a hairstylist to make sure those weaves are looking their best.  Black women are torn down in so many mediums everyday.  You gotta help out the team, Pam!!Similar Posts:
