Panasonic to Relaunch Technics Turntable Line

Panasonic has announced plans to revive its Technics turntable line, which was discontinued in 2010 after a multi-decade run DJs’ go-to choice. The announcement was made during a press conference at IFA, a trade show in Berlin focused on consumer electronics, as Wired reports. That’s a prototype of the re-designed turntable above. It’ll be available between April 2016 and March 2017, as the Wall Street Journal reports.

Last year, Panasonic re-launched the Technics brand name with a series of other high-end products. “Turntables are a very iconic product for the Technics brand,” Michiko Ogawa, director of Technics, told Wired. “It is important to show our sincere dedication [to that]. The turntable market is very small but it is a very important brand product.”

At IFA, Panasonic announced additional Technics products, too, such as headphones, an amp, and a speaker set.
