The SoJones focus: Empire

While SoJones has been catsitting at home, you can bet that everyone is looking at the show that has tons of people talking about what happens every wednesday on Fox. The show shows you what happens when you have ladies stuck in jail, wondering if they should snitch to get to the top again. Meanwhile, Lucious Lyon has some grown men in this family who could be ready to take over the office when Lucious is gone. What do you think will happen next episode, reader?

People are saying that ‘empire’ could be the focus of what people want in TV these days- attractive African Americans who have way more interesting things to talk about than scones and tea. We got the real reviews you will come to every week to understand and love more. According to Craig Seymour:

“The thing about this explosion of shows is that it’s the result of an evolution in the industry itself,” says Craig Seymour, a professor at Northern Illinois University, who has written about pop culture for such publications as Vibe and Spin. Television is an apprenticeship medium,” he adds. “In order to create TV shows, you have to first start out as a writer.

Drama when you have a billion bucks on the elevator.

Drama when you have a billion bucks on the elevator.

And then, maybe you become a head writer. And then after that, a showrunner. And then, finally, maybe you get to create a show.”

Maybe SoJones will have a reality show for those two guys in the bay area who are doing more for hip hop than others in the rap industry right now. You gotta have patience in this game, and we talked to Yo Gotti about leaving his old label and getting to be one of the best rappers in the game. With the first season of empire about to wrap up, we want to think about what could possibly happen in the future that will put rappers like Hakeem in the top ranks with people he already has met in this industry, such as Meek Mill.

The crew got clout.

The crew got clout.

So now that TV might be saved by our black, beautiful people- you can bet that when a man like Go Fetti walks into the room- all of his ex-girlfriends miss him and wish they worked at the Village that East Palo Alto will soon transform into. Empire is awesome because this show will show you what it takes to get to the top. Andre on this show is my favorite character because he can walk into any room and dump out a whole bunch of diamonds and expensive goods. Who wouldn’t want a son like that? Danny Strong, creator of Empire says:

“It was very much in the DNA of the show from the get-go, that we knew we were going to be doing a nighttime soap,” he said. “That was going to be the genre that we were working in. But we were going to be subverting the genre by tackling serious social issues head on. That’s just a key element of what we thought would make the show interesting and dynamic. It’s also very representative of who Lee Daniels and I are as writers and directors and storytellers.”
