Too Soon? Twitter Calls Philip Seymour Hoffman a Junkie

Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s untimely passing Sunday (Feb. 2nd) in his NYC apartment sent shockwaves throughout the entertainment industry, with many celebrties tweeting their condolences and memories of the fine actor. Law enforcement officials said a hypodermic needle and two envelopes containing what is believed to be heroin were found near the deceased actor in in his West Village home. Hoffman had a history of drug and alcohol abuse.

And while many were mourning the actor’s lose, there were also those who did not appreciate the media and fans honoring a celebrity who was, in their eyes, a drug addict. Twitter in particular blew up, with users calling Philip Seymour Hoffman nasty names, including “junkie.”
