Viscious Beating of Off-Duty NYPD Officer Caught on Video

An off-duty NYPD officer was the victim of a ruthless assault early Sunday morning in Queens that left him nearly dead.

Police sources reportedly told the New York Post that Sgt. Mohammed Deen was attacked by 29-year-old Hayden Holder, who repeatedly punched and kicked the officer as he lay out cold in the middle of the street as onlookers cheered and shouted “Worldstar!” The video also shows Holder punching the window of Deen’s white BMW as Deen’s wife sat inside.

The altercation began at a Jamaica, Queens nightclub where the two men began arguing after Deen reportedly bumped into Holder. The assault took place later at around 5:30 am about one mile from the club.

Holder was arrested as he tried to flee the scene and has reportedly confessed to the brutal beating, although he told police he didn’t know Deen was a police officer. He’s being held on felony assault charges.

The Post spoke with one of Holder’s neighbors, who described the man as a neighborhood menace.

“He gets more hyper when he’s drunk,” Mienkoemar Panchu told the Post, adding that Holder would often smash his empty beer bottles in the street. “Everybody used to keep a distance on the block.”

Deen was critically injured and is in a medically induced coma at Jamaica Hospital.

A word of warning: the video is quite disturbing.
