13 Reasons An Engagement Ring Should Have A Pop Of Color

Recent celebrity engagements have got us thinking… do we really want a simple diamond engagement ring?

Don’t get us wrong. Diamonds are still a girl’s best friend. However, why limit yourself to one stone, when there are some many proverbial fish (gems?) in the sea. Nicki Minaj might be engaged to rapper Meek Mill, and instead of opting for a huge diamond ring, he went for a huge yellow diamond ring. It is that pop of color that really sets her engagement ring apart.

And she isn’t the only one.

Jennifer Lopez rocked a huge pink diamond ring when she was engaged to Ben Affleck, and Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood both have yellow diamond rings similar to Minaj’s rock. Add to the list Olivia Wilde, Kate Middleton and Halle Berry and you have more than enough inspiration for colorful engagement rings.

There is already enough controversy surrounding the retrieval and sale of diamond. Why not switch it up, and avoid it all together, by throwing hints of sapphires, emeralds or rubies to your guy. Just like diamonds, these gemstones are just as rare, and just as eye-catching.

Also, unlike celebrities, most engagement rings are not 10-carat monstrosities, so that extra color just might make up for the average size.

Retailers like Tiffanys and David Yurman both have colored varieties when it comes to engagement rings, and don’t forget Etsy when it comes to unique, one-of-a-kind sparklers.
