Stussy continues its celebration of three-plus decades in the fashion industry by collaborating with pure Hip-Hop royalty.
The clothing company posted a photo via its Instagram page announcing the partnership between itself and A Tribe Called Quest for a new clothing collection. Stussy teaming up with the kings from Queens, New York means a lot for those who respected that era of dress. The Afrocentric nature of Ali Shaheed, Phife Dawg, Jarobi, and Q-Tip sparked the “Native Tongues” movement where African medallions and Malcolm X hats adorned every rabid fan.
The Stussy x ATCQ collection will feature a capsule of tees, crew necks, hoodies and hats. Each will include a variety of printed T-shirts with imagery from ATCQ’s past records and videos, accented with a selection of fleece and a handful of accessories. For those who are within the Tri-State area or in New York City, they’ll be in range of Stussy’s flagship store where they’ll have a chance to meet every member of A Tribe Called Quest on July 18 when the collaboration drops.
Stussy also posted a promotional video featuring vintage clips from ATCQ music videos and artwork consistent with its colorful album covers.
