Alessandro Michele Impresses with a Whimsical Romantic Womenswear Debut for Gucci

Join Fashion One as we take a look at Gucci’s presentation for autumn/winter 2015 from Milan Fashion Week. We bring you highlights from the delightfully dreamy runway show as well as exclusive interviews with some of the VIP guests. The latest designs are the work of recently appointed creative director Alessandro Michele who has revitalized the famous brand and given it a new youthful image.

Vogue Japan editor at large Anna Dello Russo describes this season’s look as very different from before, and more relevant to the new generation in a poetic and gentle way. Fashion critic Diane Pernet also mentions the sweet poetic elements and praises the designer for his authentic approach in addition to talking about androgyny in the collection which kept a sense of delicacy across both mens and womenswear. We also catch up with Model Varvara Shutova to hear her thoughts while photographer Scott Shuman tells us how Gucci is holding its own in a sea of high level fashion houses.

The show featured romantic bird motifs, whimsical floral prints, shimmering lurex and soft furs in a palette of warm red, dusky pink, peach and coral, alongside tan, sage and mauve. Garments included masculine suits with low slung trousers cut on the hips, sheer lace and pleated calf length skirts as well as bow collared blouses and floaty dresses. The looks were accessorized with bookish spectacles, satchel bags and berets.
