Alyson Hannigan: Why I’ll Never Wear a Crop Top

With years of red carpets behind her, Alyson Hannigan is now a pro at figuring out what to wear to an event, even down to her undergarments — but that wasn’t always the case. The actress, 41, admits that she wore a particularly problematic piece of shapewear to one of the first major award shows she attended.

“There was some sort of contraption that could have been a wrestling outfit because it was all one piece, but went up with suspenders,” she told PEOPLE while promoting Jockey Skimmies, shapewear that cover like a short and smooth like a slip. “It didn’t occur to me until I was at the event and needed to go to the bathroom really badly that I couldn’t because there was no way of doing that without disrobing completely.”

“The last thing you want to do is spend 15 minutes to try to pee when there’s a line out the door,” continued Hannigan, who stars in Jockey’s “The Solutionary” video series. “I’m like, ‘I’m sorry! And can you please help unzip me and zip me back up?’ It was not a pleasant event.”

While Skimmies have become a staple in her red carpet wardrobe, there’s one item you will never see Hannigan wearing when she goes to events.

“I don’t think I’ll ever wear a crop top,” said the mom of Satyana Marie, 6, and Keeva Jane, 3. “I’ve had two children. My belly button will never be the same after the two kids – or my belly!”
