Amy Adams Finally Dishes on Her Wedding Dress (You’ll Never Believe What She Told Us)

Sure, we’ve seen Amy Adams in a ton of gorgeous gowns, but there’s one that’s been missing from our Amy Adams style portfolio: Her wedding dress!

The 41-year-old actress, who tied the knot longtime love Darren Le Gallo back in May, kept her big day very private. She’s yet to share any photos — the only detail we’ve been clinging to is that she wore a Marchesa creation. So when we sat down with the star to chat about her latest Max Mara campaign (she has a bag named after her!), we had to ask about THE dress (as well as a few other important things like what she keeps in her bag and if she loves her American Hustle character’s wardrobe as much as we do).

Is there one piece in your closet you’re saving to pass down to your daughter [Aviana, 5]?
“I have some Oscar dresses, but for life … the cashmere coats. I have some of theirs [MaxMara], or maybe I’ll never give them to her…”

Maybe she’ll want your wedding dress.
“Yeah, I do have my wedding dress. Nobody’s seen my wedding dress.”

We know it was Marchesa.
“My deal with it is I wanted something I would never wear on the red carpet. I wanted it to be so feminine. I’ll share a picture eventually, but I loved it so much. It was so pretty.”

Maybe Aviana will want to wear it, or make it into something?
“It’s custom! You can’t make that into anything, you just put it in a box. But yeah, I was really lucky to have Georgina [Chapman] and the whole team work with me on it.”

Okay, what’s it like to have a namesake purse?
“It’s a big honor; I never really thought that would happen. It’s incredible. But working with MaxMara, that’s the greater honor, because the way they represent and support women is just beautiful.”

How do you imagine the “A” bag styled?
Well the thing is, you can do it right, which is the way it is in the campaign — with the beautiful camel coat and pair of pumps — but you’ll probably see me in like some gym clothes, because that’s sort of how I use my bags. I do love having beautiful bags, and then I take them everywhere.

You’re on the go! Are you a bag over-stuffer?
“It doesn’t matter how big the bag is, I will find a way to fill it with things I just can’t live without. I shudder to think on any given day, but sometimes I’ll have an iPad, because I read my scripts on iPad now instead of paper. Then usually there is Gold Fish; there’s always a snack. But inevitably they break or fall open and I’m that woman, so embarrassed to have goldfish at the bottom of my bag.”

Do you remember the first luxe purse you bought yourself?
“I was in Ireland and it was raining a lot and I bought a Prada bag — it was an ‘I-thought-it-could-get-wet’ bag. That was sort of my thing. But I paid like, a lot of money. My first luxe purchase ever was a pair of Manolo Blahnik shoes, and I nearly cried after buying them because they were so expensive.”

I love that you found a Prada bag that could get wet.
“When I talk about needing things to be versatile, I really mean it. It’s important to me.”

We still talk about your American Hustle wardrobe in the office. That silver plunging dress…
“I never want to wear that again. No, it was fun!”

It was amazing! Lady Edith Greensly gets our best dressed vote.
“I felt so confident in that wardrobe, and I think part of it was that it was sort of her armor. Everything was really designed to flatter my body.”
