Armani Prive Couture Fall 2015 Review

If we can be as frank as possible, “Jem and the Holograms” was the first image that popped into our heads at the sight of Couture Fall 2015 Armani Prive.

Strobe lights, blue/purple/pink neons, spiked shirt hair and enough feathers to make a peacock jealous were the reoccurring ’80s vibe of the show. The designer, who was in his formative career stages during the decade that birthed shoulder pads, created a parade of texture and effervescent colors not to be ignored.

If pop culture continues to be the reference of design –there were pieces as loud as Cookie Monster’s coat to calmer ombre suits, silk black slacks and velvet skirts. But all the calm only served as the backdrop for the drama. Extraordinary drama.

Accessories weren’t ignored as drop earrings, purses, shoes and even rhinstone-looking bracelets had a bit of shine. From head to toe it was all about glamour, a type of glamour that hasn’t been ever-present for years. Perhaps Armani is trying to tell us something.

With the aforementioned film  (“Jem and the Holograms”) set to debut this October, maybe it’s all a technicolor sign of trends to come.
