Blazin’ Beauty Quiz: Karrueche Tran

For Karrueche Tran, the work literally never stops. In addition to acting on the Emmy Award winning The Bay, web series Vanity and various modeling gigs with the famed Wilhelmina agency, she’s also plotting a beauty vlogging takeover. Although her recently established YouTube channel is populated with just a few tutorials so far, Kae believes a personal touch is what sets her apart.

“I honestly want to stay true to myself. All my tutorials are really apart of my everyday life,” she tells us. “These are things I do on a daily basis from beauty tips to cooking. I want to share a part of me in the most genuine way.”

And like us, she’s got a couple of makeup struggles she’s hoping to fix. As it turns out, doing something as simple as shadow can go wrong very quickly; even when you have the help of an MUA.

“I’m not the best at is so I’m trying to learn different ways to perfect it. I always pay attention to the way makeup artists apply eyeshadows and how they blend it. It’s not easy at all!,” she laments.

For now, the 27-year-old continues to hone in on her long term goal–a successful acting career (“It takes a lot more work than having to be pretty and show emotion through the face”)–and more philanthropic work.

“I’m currently working on creating my own foundation. It will portray acts of love and kindness through our everyday lives. That includes donating to the homeless, volunteering at food banks, spending time/ reading with kids who are less fortunate, women’s speaking groups and so forth.”

And as for personal goals, having a better grip on her social media habits is an ongoing challenge:

“Although I do this quite often, I would say do not put your personal business online. I’ve done it so many times but it’s the worst,” she shares. It only goes downhill and creates a bigger mess. But in the same breath, use your social media to be expressive and have fun.”
