Clothing is produced at an alarming rate these days. Those who aren’t able to cut through the static might find it hard to stand out within the industry. A company out of London is urging customers to buy in to the idea that there is another way for designers to offer their wares to customers.

Called Knyttan, the British brand removes the layers between designers and customers, and enables you, the consumer, to have a better choice. One look at perusing the Knyttan site and you’ll see that there are tools for interested parties to produce a one-of-a-kind outfit that can be worn by anybody. By fully embracing individualism, Knyttan allows bespoke culture to thrive and take root in an e-commerce capacity.

The company let’s you do the fun part and leaves the cutting, tailoring, and tapering to the professionals. Knyttan offers sweaters and scarfs, with hopes to expand into other items very soon.

You can see a bit about what the company has to offer in the video below:

Founded in 2014, the Knyttan brand name comes from old English, and reflects a time when every garment was different. With a mission to make designing clothes more open and sustainable for those who appreciate an individual style, Knyttan is a little bit more unique than others on the market. The ability to make a different item every time without changing the way Knyttan makes its clothes is an appreciated kill in a marketplace where fast fashion has proven to harm the Earth’s environment.

Adjusting the line weights, pattern’s placement, and even inverting the colors are a few of the available choices. The digital file is sent to a computer-controlled Stoll knitting machine and woven using 100 percent merino wool. The finishing touch is an added level of class and personality: an embroidered label listing your name as a designer. Clocking in at a hefty, but feasible price range of $120 for a scarf to $300 for a sweater, Knyttan admits to starting a balance between how much consumers pay and the cost to produce said wares locally.

In taking no time at all to create a garment (only two hours, according to Refinery 29), Knyttan beats having to whip out a pair of knitting needles and carve out months of time to finish one piece, right?! As customers work directly with designers, Knyttan provides personality on a whole other level, leaving the former with no surprises when it arrives at their doorstep.
