Caitlyn Jenner Kicks Off Her Mornings with ‘Glam Gossip’ Sessions and More Must-Know Info from Her Hairstylist

Ever since Caitlyn Jenner made her public debut on the cover of Vanity Fair, her style and beauty routines have continued to evolve. And viewers of her I Am Cait docuseries see this progression each week. Now, the person behind Jenner’s famous mane, hairstylist Courtney Nanson, is sharing what it’s like to work with the 65-year-old Olympian. Find out how she helped create Jenner’s signature brunette blowout, plus, how they start their style sessions and more.

Nanson opens up to Allure about how their working relationship came to be. Turns out, they met through a mutual friend, and she didn’t actually know who she was meeting until their first consultation.

“Caitlyn soon introduced herself to me with a big hug and a big personal story,” Nanson tells Allure. “As she finished her story, I remember thinking how proud I felt in that moment. I knew that together we would create the perfect look.”

Developing Jenner’s signature blowout wasn’t an instant process. Nanson explains she spent a lot of time with her client finding inspiration for colors and cuts from magazines. “It was also a dream scenario, because I got to spend a lot of time with Cait prior to her debut,” she says. “It was very important for me to really get to know her on the inside and out. I needed to know what type of style she was going to feel the most beautiful wearing.”

After months, Nanson finally landed on a brunette shade because it “gives us a lot of room to work with and add to.” (Like the summery highlights Nanson recently added to Jenner’s chestnut shade, which she credits as all Jenner’s idea!)

So what happens when Nanson’s not around to create Jenner’s face-framing waves? The stylist explains she’s armed her client with all the necessary blowout tools, adding, “I must say, she does a pretty good job at styling her own hair.”

But on shooting days (for the E! reality show, I Am Cait) they start their mornings with a “glam routine.”

“Her makeup artist Kip Zachary and I will discuss the type of look we are going to do that day and the fun begins,” Nanson shares. “Between the three of us, we always have ‘glam gossip’ to start off the day. This includes strong coffee, reading any new articles out loud to each other and sharing makeup and hair tips. We joke around a lot so there’s a constant laughter coming from our direction.”

Nanson credits Jenner as being a complete life-changer. “Cait has changed my life in a bigger way than I could have ever styled her hair. We have spent a lot of time together and created a great friendship. To put it simply, I’m not the same person I was prior to meeting Cait — I am so much better.”
