Calvin Klein To Launch Design Contest

Calvin Klein’s last campaign had everyone stripping down to their skivvies and posting pictures on instagram. This time around the design house is tapping a select few. According to Women’s Wear Daily, Calvin Klein Watches & Jewelry is launching a watch and jewelry design contest. The house will call on students from three major design schools– the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) in Milan and Donghua University in Shanghai– to come up with innovative watch and jewelry designs “that reflect their interpretation of the Calvin Klein Watches & Jewelry brand.” The judges will include fashion bloggers Chiara Ferragni, Hanneli Mustaparta and Nicole Warne along with Laura Burdese– president of Calvin Klein Watches & Jewelry– and Ulrich Grimm– CK’s creative director of men’s and women’s shoes and accessories. Together they will evaluate the contestants’ “use of materials, details and packaging, as well as ease of use and functionality.” The winner will receive a cash prize as well as have their work displayed at the Baselworld fair in 2015.
