Channing Tatum’s Beyoncé Contouring Is So Good We Found Out How He Did It

If Channing Tatum dressed up as Beyoncé while lip syncing “Run the World (Girls)” doesn’t interest you, it should. And if that wasn’t enough to convince you, Beyoncé actually makes an appearance during his performance. But what we’re really obsessing over here is how ridiculously amazing his Queen Bey contouring is, so we dialed up the people at Lip Sync Battle to find out what it’s like to tenderly define Channing Tatum’s Cheekbones (TM).

Rokael Lizama, the makeup artist on the set of the show and the mastermind behind Tatum’s scuplted visage, told PeopleStyle that they pulled his look together in record time. “He was such a good sport and wanted to make sure he did the performance justice,” Lizama says. “And even though we only had 15 minutes to do hair and makeup, we managed to create a really fun homage to Beyoncè”

So if he can look like Beyoncè in only 15 minutes, we can too, right? Ladies, open your bronzers. “I focused on the contour, since he has great bone structure,” Lizama says of Tatum’s look. “So it wasn’t hard to create the canvas.”

Aside from a ton of contour, Lizama “made sure to add lots of glow and mascara,” to, you know, help him get into character. And it worked — Tatum’s glowing, flawless skin and bright blonde wig stole the show — even when the Queen herself appeared on stage next to him.

And lest you think Lizama’s masterful contouring skills only work on to diva-fy hunks, think again: Jenna Dewan Tatum‘s twerk-all-over-the-stage performance of “Pony” was especially noteworthy thanks to Dewan-Tatum’s really defined set of abs — almost giving her hubby (who, via Magic Mike, was the originator of her moves) a run for his money. And in the end, both sculpted hotties were so picture-perfect, they wound up with the show’s first-ever tied performances.
