Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush

Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush

If you read my blog even slightly regularly then you’ll know that I love me a good cleansing brush and I think I’ve tried pretty much every one available in the UK market, so I was extremely excited to receive the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush which is the brand’s answer to a skincare brush and has just launched.

As expected, it’s a fab little brush that really delivers on its promises.  It’s a well-built yet fuss-free gadget that has a single setting and one type of brush head, so consequently it slots quickly and happily into your skincare routine.  The handle is ergonomic so easy to hold and the brush head holds two types of bristles; the beautifully soft white bristles for general use and the slightly firmer green bristles for areas that need extra help such as the t-zone.  It takes a slight knack to angle the brush head to take full advantage of the different bristles, but it’s extremely easy to get the hang of.

The single setting turns the brush on for 30 seconds, which is what the instructions advice you to start with once a day – just a single spin around the face.  Once your skin has demonstrated a tolerance for the additional cleansing you can move up to 60 seconds twice a day, however, being someone who regularly uses cleansing brushes (although I’ve been a bit rubbish lately) I jumped straight in with 60 seconds twice a day.

I am happy to report that this brush is absolutely brilliant!  I’m pretty fussy about facial brushes and I do think you’d struggle to beat the Clarisonic, but this one definitely comes close, and in many ways overtakes it’s much more expensive counterpart.  The way I’d describe it is that the Clarisonic offers lots of added extras, such as many different types of brush heads, face area timer and different levels of power which is why you’re paying the big bucks for these additional features.  The Clinique version is basic, but it delivers an equally impressive result on the skin, which is the most important thing really isn’t it? It’s like buying a Maybelline and a Chanel mascara; they both do the same thing but the Chanel one offers more va-va-voom and the “because you’re worth it” good feeling.

The wonderful thing about the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush is that it’s just so easy.  60 seconds AM and PM will deliver you very quick, impressive results.  After a few days use my skin felt much smoother (and looked smoother under make-up) clearer, more toned and just generally better maintained.  I’ve used the brush with a balm, an oil and a wash and to be honest I’d say it’s all much of a muchness; it works really well with all of them.  However, in the morning I use it with a balm to really soften and smooth my skin so it looks its best under make-up.  I really recommend the Clinique Sonic System Purifying Cleansing Brush  which is available here – link – for £79 and each additional brush head is £20 here – link.  The charger comes with a USB attachment which I’m guessing is for easy charging whilst travelling, but there might be another reason I haven’t worked out so don’t quote me!
