The problem may be the lack of attention spent on your ends. Curly girls have a habit of talking about hair ends, but do nothing about it as if they’ll magically fix themselves. Unfortunately, unkempt ends lead to untidy hair, split strands, and even breakage–ouch!

Trimming practices really are tailored to one’s individual hair retention and curl pattern. Although consulting a natural hair professional is often recommended, a simple D-I-Y trim at home can also lead to healthier strands and better overall hair appearance.

Trim In-Twist Method

Trimming individual twists (or braids) is one of the easiest ways to physically see those split ends.
How To:
- Spritz hair with favorite leave in conditioner or water bottle concoction until damp, but not soaking wet
- Detangle with wide toothed comb
- Twist your hair into medium sized twist
- Let hair set for about 30 seconds or until the split ends emerge
- Trim with sheers
