Erin Andrews DWTS Photo Diary: Semi-Finals Is All About Keeping It ‘Fun and Sexy’

Dancing with the Stars is already down to the semi-finals! And in this week’s installment of co-host Erin Andrews’ style diary, she’s keeping things low-key (low-key for DWTS that is) before next week’s two-night spectacular. She told PeopleStyle all about her dress, makeup and hair choices and how it took everything in her power to stay upright in her skintight design.

“I loved this look for this week because we are getting down to the last few shows and we are going all-out for the finale,” Andrews tells PeopleStyle about her Self Portrait dress. “I thought this was the perfect kind of fun, playful and sexy semi-finals look, setting the tables for a fantastic finale.”

Her stylist, Alyssa Greene calls the dress a “gem” she’s had in her back pocket for a couple of weeks now. “With the dress being such a bright crisp white it really made Erin stand out,” Greene shares. “I mixed rose and yellow gold with jewels from Djula and Le Vian and paired them with super-chic nude lace-up Aquzarra pumps making it fun from head to toe.”

But simple in style doesn’t always translate to the most wearable. “The most challenging thing about this dress was walking in it,” Andrews spills. “We decided the dress would be better if it was tapered at the bottom but I had to kind of shuffle around the ballroom and walk up the stairs very carefully. We were all laughing about it all night long. My biggest fear was eating it in the ballroom. It took a small village to make sure I could move around the set changes and get on and off stage while taking the smallest steps possible.”

But the best part of last night’s styling process was Greene’s little helper! “Erin was so awesome to encourage me to bring my 4-month-old to set today to hang out with everyone while we got Erin ready,” says Greene. “He got a lot of cuddles and new admirers.”

And being that her dress was low-key, that meant her glam squad had full range to make her a “bronze goddess.” As her makeup artist, Lisa Ashley puts it, since the dress was sexy and white, “the sky was the limit!”

To get Andrews glowing from all angles, Ashley used five different shades of bronze. “All very smudged,” Ashley says. She applied cream bronze shadows by Benefit and layers of powder shadow by Stila used wet and dry. “Applying the shadow wet intensifies the pigment of the color,” she explains. “Then I added a golden shadow in the inner corners of her eyes.”

But the challenging part of the bronze beauty look was getting Andrews looking like a goddess — while wearing a white dress! (And consider the fact that she was being miked-up, doing hair touch-ups, piling on the jewels and shoes all just five minutes before they went live.) “Never a dull moment in that dressing room,” Ashley says.

As for her hair, stylist Ryan Randall kept all the focus on texture and movement, without looking over-worked. “The last few weeks Erin has worn her hair up. This week we knew that we wanted it down, and Erin is all about texture,” he shares.

Randall used Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, Kevin Murphy Powder Puff and Bumble and Bumble Spray de Mode to secure everything in place.
