Last week, the lacquer powerhouse unleashed a bevy of holiday offerings that’ll make for darling stocking stuffers or your next standout manicure.

First up is the “Undressed: Shades of Nude” collection (above), a 6 piece set of creamy nudes that flatter any skin tone for a graceful, polished look. If you prefer brighter, festive shades, the “Dressed To The Nines” collection is probably more your speed.

In addition to the base and top coat, there’s also eight polishes in a mix of crème, shimmer and glitter finishes. And if you’re low on cash or simply want to start out small, there’s also the 2-piece “Roses In The Snow” set or 3-piece “Treat Me Right” collection.

Now, once you’ve re-upped on your polishes, it’s important to remember all of those important maintenance must haves as well as a strategy for incorporating the trends of moment. Luckily, Deborah was on hand to answer all of our queries, including the recipe for a perfect at home manicure. Grab a pen and take notes as you read our latest beauty exclusive!

StyleBlazer: When it comes to overall nail health, what do the following issues indicate: nails that frequently chip and flake, white spots under the nail, sensitive skin around the nail and on the cuticle?

Deborah Lippmann: Frequent chips or flakes probably mean your nails are dehydrated or you’re using them as tools. Wear gloves when doing any manual work around the house, and be sure to moisturize frequently! White spots can sometimes signify a bruise, at which point they grow out naturally. However, you can take care of your hands during this time by being extra gentle with them. Sensitive skin comes in many forms. For example, sensitivity around the nail or cuticle can be the result of biting or incorrectly removing a hangnail. Remember, never cut cuticles! Always, always push them back with a soft cuticle pusher and remover like my Cuticle Remover to exfoliate that delicate area.

SB: Metallics are a top trend for this fall. Any tips and tricks for those who want to try the trend, but are more comfortable with neutral shades?

DL: If you’re venturing into metallics and aren’t quite sure about it, try a shade that’s a bit softer and more subtle, like Lullaby of Broadway, a blush luxe chrome, from my 2014 New York Marquee Collection. Just like when you get a new haircut, trying something different will take a few days of adjustment. If you don’t like the metallic finish upon application, don’t rush to take it off. Wear it around a while – you might just be surprised and end up liking it!
