Five Things To Know About Balmain’s New Muse Lucky Blue Smith

Lucky Blue Smith is not the son of famous parents, and he does not have a reality show. However, the 17-year old with platinum blonde hair and piercing blue eyes is the new model to watch.

The 6’3″ model just landed the latest Balmain campaign, but he has walked in countless designer shows including Versace, Gap and was recently named the face of Tom Ford. And although he is just getting started in the modeling world, he has already amassed more than 1 million followers on Instagram, beating out other established models including David Gandy and Sean O’Pry.

So, what is it about the Mormon model that has designers (and fans) swooning? Along with being down-to-earth (he never fails to stop and take selfies with fans after shows), Smith is also a triple threat, with musician and actor on his resume.

Here are the five things you should know about Lucky Blue Smith, because we have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot more of the model:

1) He was discovered at the age of 10: In an interview with Ellen Degeneres, Smith said, “My sister got scouted and I was with her, and [the director of NEXT LA ] was like ‘I want to see you in a few years…’ The first thing I did was for a Brazilian jeans company… but I didn’t do much until I was 14.”

2) He is the drummer in an “old school surf” band ‘The Atomics’: His father taught him to play, and the band also include his model sisters, Daisy, Pyper and Starlie.

3) He thinks about his homework on the runway: “I never really get nervous, I just get excited. Some fashion shows, they tell you to bring this really tough look on your face. I was walking and then I was thinking about my homework. I didn’t turn in those 10 assignments, my mom is going to ground me.’”

4) He has perfected two looks: One is the ‘You’re looking at me?’, the other is ‘Why are you looking at me?’

5) He wants to be like Justin Bieber: ” I want the main thing to be music and then, ‘Oh yeah, he’s in a Calvin Klein campaign.’ Like Justin Bieber. I want to show my fans my music career and for them to [still] be fans of me when they’re mums.”
