Golden Globes 2016: Kate Hudson’s Glowing Skin Secrets, Straight From Her Makeup Artist

Jaws everywhere hit the floor when Kate Hudson stepped onto the red carpet donning a body-flaunting gown and a brand new haircut — but her smoky eyes gave us so much envy, we had to chat with her makeup artist, Mélanie Inglessis, for all of the details.

Inglessis says that she based the look on Hudson’s Michael Kors Collection dress. “It’s all body, it’s really sexy, it’s very Kate,” she explains. “I just wanted her to look really healthy, like a sun-kissed goddess.”

But that wasn’t the only thing that guided her makeup — she adds that she was also inspired by Hudson herself.
“Kate is fun, she’s sexy, she’s modern and I just wanted to go with all of that, Inglessis explains. “So I created beautiful skin, a smoky eye and a nude lip. It was a little ’70s, Studio 54, a little sexy, a little Kate.”

To achieve her healthy glow, Inglessis first added definition by applying Chantecaille’s gel bronzer under her cheek bones, forhead, sides of nose, and chin. Then, she added highlighter “on the cheek bones, on the brow bone, and on the bridge of the nose to create luminosity when the light hits those parts of the face stand out.”

But her coolest trick? She saved the foundation for last.
“I apply foundation on top of it — that’s how I like to do it for natural definition. When I do foundation first, I feel that in photographs it shows a little more.”

On her eyes, she created a smoky eye using Chantecaille’s Le Magnolia Eye and Cheek Palette mixed with Le Chrome Luxe Eye Duo in Monte Carlo, and brown eyeliner.

To complete the look, Hudson’s perfect nude lip was a combination of Chantecaille’s lip liner in Nuance and Lip Stick in Agave.
