Is Kendall Jenner Experiencing The Kanye-Effect Or The Next Big Thing In Modeling?

Kendall Jenner’s fashion career experienced a spike this season. Kim Kardashian’s 18-year-old half-sib walked the Marc Jacobs fall 2014 runway show wearing a completely sheer knit top braless, which had the whole internet buzzing. Then came the cool #VogueInstaFashion Instagram photo shoot. And for London Fashion Week she walked the Giles fall 2014 runway. Naturally, after an already busy fashion month she had a seat…front row at Topshop Unique’s runway show next to Anna Wintour and other regulars like Kate Moss. It had everyone whispering of a possible Vogue cover on the horizon. Though there are no signs of one yet, you can find plenty photos of her from the Givenchy fall 2014 runway which debuted yesterday. But even with that impressive resume from this fashion month, we have to wonder: is Kendall Jenner just experiencing the Kanye-effect?

Kim Kardashian’s relationship to Kanye West has definitely gained the family access. Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy and C.R Fashion Book founder Carine Roitfeld, both pals to Kanye, both readily embraced Kim Kardashian. Anna Wintour, another of Kanye’s fashion bffs, has proven tougher to crack, but Kim was at least able to attend the 2013 Met Gala on her beau’s arm (unlike the year before when their romance was still new). Those are some of the same names that are giving Kendall her momentum. And her other gigs?

We’re guessing Marc Jacobs was attracted to the young reality star’s slightly controversial allure a la the Kardashian clan. He did cast fashion’s new out-cast Miley Cyrus for his spring 2014 ad campaign at the risk of one of his long standing professional relationships. While Katie Grand, the stylist for Marc Jacobs’ fall 2014 runway also styled Giles’ fall 2014 collection and could possibly have gotten Kendall the connect. When you take away Kanye and Katie’s networks, Kendall doesn’t have any other noteworthy appearances from fashion month fall 2014, which says a lot since the teen is officially signed to The Society Management modeling agency and was obviously available to book other runways.

It’s not secret that a lot of designers shy away from “celebrity models” out of concern that people will care less about the clothes. On the contrary, there will definitely be plenty of major magazine covers and spreads in the near future—with and without Kendall’s younger sister and business partner Kylie Jenner—as there have been for Kim, Khloe and Kourtney. But Kendall’s high fashion career might just be a line in our extended love story with the Kardashian-Jenners as the result of being pretty, famous and well-connected. Time will tell, although we don’t anticipate too long of a wait since her family doesn’t do anything slowly.
