It’s Adele Day! Here’s Everything You Need to Get the Perfect Cat Eye, in Honor of Her New Album, 25

Adele is back — and she brought her cat eye. The 27-year-old singer has been depriving us of eyeliner inspiration for way too long, but with today’s release of her new album, 25, along with some major makeup moments in her latest video and a few big appearances, we’ll forgive her. So if you’re looking for the secret to Adele-worthy winged eyeliner, read on.

Don’t let her perfection intimidate you — with the right supplies, you’ll be living your best cat-eyed life in no time.

Here’s what you’ll need:
-A liquid eyeliner pen (we love this one from Marc Jacobs)
-A steady hand (or Scotch tape)
-A great instructor:

Step 1: As Charlotte Tilbury suggests in the above video, begin drawing a line from the inner corner of your lash line to 3/4 of the way to the outer corner.
Step 2: Draw a dot to plan where the wing will end up.
Step 3: Connect the line to the dot, and fill it in. If your hand isn’t as steady as Tilbury’s, it’s ok–a tiny piece of tape placed diagonally from the outer corner of your eye will give you a flawlessly smooth line (see below).

Step 4: Clean it up! Just drag a damp cotton bud along the edges to remove any imperfections, and you’re done.
