Jessica Alba Reveals the Best Beauty Compliment Cash Ever Gave Her (Plus, 10 More of Her Fave Things)

Jessica Alba would like to set the record straight: She does not wake up looking like the billion-dollar boss lady whose style and beauty we look to for daily inspo. But that doesn’t bother her husband of seven years, Cash Warren, one bit. While guest editing this week’s beauty pages in PEOPLE, the star, who just launched her Honest Beauty skin care and makeup line this fall, shared that Warren’s a huge fan of her fresh-out-of bed look. Check out the Alba’s most treasured beauty compliment from her man — and almost a dozen other things she loves (and pick up this week’s issue for even more faves).

If you think Alba’s top compliment from Warren was about one of her killer red carpet looks, think again. “We were on vacation recently and my whole head was braided. I was too tired to take them out [before bed], so when I woke up my braids were still in my hair–and I had a little bit of a sun kissed face. Usually when I wake up, I look busted, but for some reason [Cash] was like, ‘babe you look really pretty.’ And I was like, “oh?! Really? That’s amazing.”

And he’s not the only one loving her more natural look. Alba admits she only has 5-10 minutes to get her makeup on most mornings, so she keeps things super simple. “I start my day off with Tweezerman’s eyelash curler. It opens up the eye no matter what. And I like to apply my Honest Beauty Everything Primer, then I’ll go to the gym or have [breakfast] with my kids while I let my face settle into itself, because it takes a minute. I’m definitely not a teenager anymore. And then I put my makeup on: sometimes it’s a foundation, sometimes it’s an spf 20 tinted moisturizer [plus] a cream blush, mascara, and a lip crayon or gloss.”

The more we grilled the star, the more must-haves we discovered. From her top spa treatment to her go-to takeout order, Alba let us in on what she truly loves.

Facial feature: Right now I’m really into the brows. I feel like you can have nothing else on your face but a little concealer here and there and a strong brow. I’m always envious of girls who have [ones] that aren’t overplucked because the 90s just ruined my brows. I’ve been on the mend ever since. And I for sure in the 2000s was still guilty of just making them as skinny as humanly possible.

Spa treatment: A 90 minute deep tissue massage.

Item in your closet: I have this Celine double-breasted black blazer with gold buttons. Even if I don’t wear it, I always bring it on a trip. I love it.

Accessories: My wedding ring, my Jennifer Meyer nameplate necklace with my girls’ names on one side and Cash’s name on the other and my Anita Ko floating diamond earrings.

TV show: Ooh, I just got done with Luther and I’m really depressed about it. So I’m recovering right now.

Music artist: That might be too hard because it just depends on what mood I’m in. I’m on Spotify so you can see what’s on there. I still listen to a lot of 90s hip-hop in case anyone was wondering.

Book: The Autobiography of Eleanor Roosevelt

Takeout: Chipotle. I get a bowl with lettuce, the fajita mix, chicken, black beans, spicy sauce, pico de gallo and the corn mix.

Dessert: I’m not crazy about dessert, I’d take some nachos over an ice cream sundae any day. But my husband’s a dessert guy, and so are my kids.

Place to unwind: My bath. If you want a relaxing bath, use lavender essential oil. You don’t want to use a lot—just one or two drops. And then I add a cup of Epsom salt. It’s my favorite way to wind down. And if I do have the time, and a mask, I’ll put a face mask on while I’m sitting in the bathtub so I can do two things at once. I love Innisfree masks. I was in Seoul, Korea, and they have like a whole Innisfree store and I went crazy and bought everything in there, because I love to try new brands and try things.
