Julianne Hough’s DWTS Photo Diary: Finale Week Is All About the ‘Bouncy Bob’ (and a Special Visitor!)

In the final installment of her exclusive behind-the-scenes photo diary for PEOPLE, DWTS judge Julianne Hough goes with what she knows best, from her signature hairstyle to her favorite designer. “This look was a fabulous mix of fashion and beauty,” Patrickson tells PEOPLE. “We mixed the beaded edginess [of the gown] against the signature Julianne Hough bouncy bob. It was the perfect combo. Jenny Packham is the most amazing designer. We finished it off with stunning citrine earrings and rings from the one and only Neil Lane.”

Adds Hough, “Jenny Packham has been my favorite designer for a long time so being able to wear her in the finale week is such an honor.”

Patrickson says that the jewel tone dress not only made a bold statement, but it was also a “sophisticated” choice for the star.

“The biggest challenge was choosing what to do with the hair, but it’s the finale and we wanted to go out with a bang and the best way to do that was her signature style,” she explains.

As for the makeup, Barnes had to prepare a look that would last from the judges’ table through a performance — Hough pre-tapped a dance routine with her brother Derek to air on Tuesday’s live results show.

“That made it easy to want to keep Julianne radiant, fresh-faced and golden with apricot cheeks and a creamy lip,” he explains. “I used the Bobby Brown lip palette for a peachy-pink creamy finish, plus Lorac Cosmetics Tantalizer baked bronzer to add the finishing radiance to her skin.”

And to celebrate the end of Season 20, Hough had a special visitor on set.

“It was a delight having Brooks, Julianne’s beau, join us in the trailer and enjoy the show,” Barnes says. “It’s amazing how fast this season went by. It was a beautiful kaleidoscope of looks and the best glam team partners made it all possible.”
