Julianne Hough’s Engagement Ring: Get the First Look!

Julianne Hough has been carefully keeping her engagement ring under wraps, hiding her left arm at events and keeping her hands carefully clasped in paparazzi photos. But the power of Taylor Swift proved too strong even for Hough: in an enthusiastic Insta posted to her hairstylist/BFF Riawna Capri’s Instagram, the first glimpse of the ring has arrived.

The star shows off the hardware in an (admittedly blurry, but hey, we’ll take what we can get when it comes to engagement rings) Instagram that shows Hough in an Uber full of pals en route to Swift’s show, with more friends in her crew tagged including Nina Dobrev, Kind Campaign cofounder Lauren Paul, Zelda Williams and hair colorist Nikki Lee. And yes, that’s glitter face paint — but more on that later.

Hough reveals a glimpse of her 5-plus-carat Lorraine Schwartz diamond ring, which, as PEOPLE learned last week, was created just for her by her hockey player fiancé Brooks Laich. “Brooks called Lorraine because he wanted to find the most perfect diamond that was truly beautiful and shined so bright — just like Julianne,” a source told PEOPLE of the oval-cut stunner. “Brooks and Lorraine worked together for months to find a ring that reflected Julianne’s grace and elegance. It’s very clean, very elegant, very beautiful, and the diamond is the highest quality. It just shines gorgeous.”

And speaking of “shines gorgeous:” back to that glitter. The group decided to go all-out with the face décor for Swift’s last show in N.Y.C., which Dobrev teased on her Instagram account:

And then revealed the full extent of their artwork (because, as Capri said, “Why not?”) in a series of squad Instas — including a tiny glimpse of Hough’s ring as well!
