M-Commerce Company Set To Be ‘The Tinder For Fashion’

Mallzee, a company founded out of Edinburgh, Scotland, is billing itself as a revolutionary startup for online retailers and fashion lovers.
The app, available on Android and iOS, has been largely been U.K.-focused since its inception, but the U.S. market did get a chance to see what the hype was all about back in November. Nowadays, it claims a “six-figure” user base spread across 125 countries.
Which is good for the company that aggregates online retailers’ inventory and lets users swipe to save their favorite garments, making it a “Tinder for Fashion”. After raising $4 million dollars, the app is creating an in-app purchasing to U.K. shoppers, with plans to bring the same option to U.S. consumers by the end of the year.
The company received investments from the U.K.’s postal service company, the Royal Mail Group, with other contributions from the Scottish Investment Bank, Par Equity, and a boatload of entrepreneurs. “The money will be used to innovate the m-commerce space and scale its global offering,” the company said in a released statement.
M-commerce refers to the growing demand of consumership via mobile devices.
Mallzee originally rose to prominence back in February of this year after it entered Dragons’ Den, a television show better known here in the U.S. as Shark Tank, where the company requested $115,000 in funding.
Founder Cally Russell walked away empty-handed, even after getting a full amount offer from tycoon Peter Jones. Yet, the appearance has worked in the company’s favor, as investment opportunities and approaches by retailers have inundated the company ever since. Since then, Mallzee has linked with Samsung, enabling them to be promoted through the Galaxy Apps store, making them a force inside the Scottish capital and around the globe.
