Man Has Wife Arrested For Not Doing His Laundry

Be careful when getting into a relationship or marriage with someone who doesn’t respect you as a person — it could end up a bad/messy/embarrassing situation.

Such was the case for a couple in Tamaulipas, Mexico, where a wife was placed in jail—in a confined area for a set period of time—all because she refused to do her husband’s laundry. Edgar Ivan Perez Alvarado, a 26-year-old truck driver, claimed that his wife, Dulce Requena Garcia, 21, would not “iron his clothes because she believed he was going to meet a mistress.”

Knowing that you have to hear both sides, Perez Alvarado could have been attempting to find better work and needed his wife to assist in making sure he looked good for his upcoming job interview. Yet, according to Spanish-language paper Puebla en Linea, it was reported that the husband was so angered about his wife’s accusation that he called the police and reported his wife as a disturbance.

Requena Garcia was charged a 400-peso fine, which is about $25 USD, but that wasn’t the height of it. She couldn’t pay the fee and her husband refused to pay it as well, which meant Requena had to spend 12 hours in jail. The couple has three small children. We wonder just how rapido of a divorce Requena can have once she gets situated back to a life of freedom.
