#MFW Spring 2016 Day 5 Recap: Seeing Stripes
Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni and MSGM were just some of the designers seeing stripes for spring.
Last season, Dolce & Gabbana paid tribute to “mammas,” and for Spring 2016, the Italian designers paid tribute to Italia. In their ode to their home country, Dolce & Gabbana transformed their runway into a trattoria, and had selfie-taking models show off a collection that highlighted the landmarks of Rome, Florence and Milan. Fittingly, the striped tablecloths of Italian cafes inspired some of the garments, in a presentation that proved just how much the brand loved their heritage.
At Missoni, the brand’s signature bold patterns reigned on the runway, with crochet knits and maxi dresses that are reminiscent of Missoni’s roots. At MSGM, it was a skater girl themed collection, with off-the-shoulder tops, pink culottes with metal rings and long dresses over pants being paired with chunky kicks.
Salvatore Ferragamo also had stripes on their runway, from the color block maxi dresses to the dresses that almost seemed an optical illusion.
Proving that stripes can be flattering, Milan Fashion Week continues to set trends we can expect to see everywhere in just a few months.
