Molly Sims Debuts a New Fashion Week Do: See Her Fresh Haircut!

ICYMI: Molly Sims has a chic new do! The former supermodel, 42, showed off her short, fresh haircut Wednesday at the Cotton and Rue La La Fashion Showcase in New York City.

“I’ve been wanting to do it,” Sims tells PEOPLE of her cut. “I think I got in kind of a little bit of a rut with diapers and formula,” which is why she told hairdresser Joey Maalouf to grab a glass of wine along with his scissors and chop her hair off prior to the event.

“I feel like I just lost five pounds!” Sims says of the hair change.

She might feel lighter after her new do, but the mom of two — son Brooks Alan, 3, and daughter Scarlett May, 5 months –already looks fit as a fiddle months after welcoming her daughter, who she calls her “little Buddha” — but getting back into shape was “hard,” she says.

“I’ve definitely have had to cut different things like I definitely cut sugar for a few months,” the author of The Everyday Supermodel admits. “The extra glass of wine I cut. The extra thing of bread I cut. I just kind of stick to high protein and a lot vegetables.”

Aside from cutting back, the supermodel also maintains a healthy, active lifestyle with her children.

“We do everything,” she says. “We go hiking, we go walking, we do yoga and we do Tracy Anderson.”

And while “it’s hard to manage” two little ones Sims says, “it’s the best.”
