Nicki Minaj Gets Wig Slapped With $30 Million Lawsuit

Unarguably one of the defining characteristics of Nicki Minaj, when she initially became famous, was her wacky wigs. The Queens-bred rapper used them as a part of her Barbie doll gimmickry, that appealed to tons of fans. But those same wigs are now those same wigs are the driving force behind a $30 million lawsuit.
Minaj’s wig stylist, Terrence Davidson is taking the diva to the district court in Atlanta over the pieces. As a little background, Davidson joined her team in 2010 and worked closely with the talent. He left her team in 2013, along with everyone else in her styling team, after creative differences– which we reported on at the time.
Fast forward to this year when Davidson found out the wigs were being sold through the rapper’s website. He alleges she copied, sold and licensed his original designs; he also claims her and her team discouraged him from participating in a multi-million-dollar reality show deal under the guise that it would disrupt their partnership.
“Her lawyers may complicate it, but we don’t need to get into intellectual-property law,” said Christopher Chestnut, an attorney for Davidson. “This is basic American morality. Nicki Minaj lied to this man and cheated him. It’s a classic David versus Goliath situation.”
Minaj’s people have yet to comment, but we get the feeling this could get messy.
