Resort Collections Channel The ’60s Through These Women

The radicalism of the 60’s gave birth to some of the most iconic fashion.

The youth counterculture, the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, the feminist movement, and the Kennedy assassination were just some of the many issues at play during this decade. As a result of the social unrest, the ’60s were the first time that there was no ruling zeitgeist for fashion; hence, the look of the era was not determined by one ruling class. Rather the various looks were made iconic by the women who carried them.

It’s no wonder that so many designers have cited style icons of the 1960’s as the inspiration for their current collections. Brands like Ellery, Celine and Rebecca Minkoff have tapped into the decade of social change for inspiration for their Resort collections.
