SB Exclusive: ‘Scream’ Star Brianne Tju’s On Campus Style Secrets

Brianne Tju has mastered her on campus style, and is adding her last minute college fashion essentials to her online cart before heading back to class.

Just like most college students, the teenager is still trying to decide on a major and balancing classes and work. However, unlike most college students Tju has a recurring role on MTV’s “Scream” and is constantly running to auditions.

“It’s definitely difficult,” Tju said of balancing school and acting.  “I used to have a full load of classes, but I had to trim that down, especially when I was filming ‘Scream’ because that was in Louisiana. So I have online classes, but what’s nice is I can also go to the campus and meet with the teacher, and study with actual people so I am not completely isolated.”

As her second year at Cal State Fullerton rolls around, Tju  is sharing her secrets when it comes to college fashion do’s and don’ts, styling your school pride and what to wear on the first day.

On her back to school shopping list: “A really sturdy, roomy bag, so a backpack or a big tote. Something I won’t mind throwing on the floor. Obviously I want it to be cute, but it needs to be durable. Sneakers, I feel like that is a really big trend right now and because they are super comfortable for walking around campus. In the fall, I like to have a nice, roomy,  military style jacket to just throw on with everything, and a good pair of jeans. Mini dresses are also actually really easy because you just throw that on, throw a jacket over it and you are good to go. In the fall, I like to have a lot of layers.”

On ditching the sweatpants on campus: “I’m not a big sweatpants person, but I do like jeggings. I also don’t like to walk around in my workout pants so a stretchy jean is really, really versatile.”

On her fashion advice for freshman: “The first thing is don’t try to dress like someone else, or try to impress anybody. Just wear what is comfortable to you and what makes you feel confident. Don’t try to dress against the weather, and wear clothes that fit you well. Have fun, experiment. Try out trends, but don’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable because that shows.”
