Sharon Stone Poses Nude at 57: ‘I’m Aware That My Ass Looks Like a Bag of Flapjacks’

Stars over 50 looking ridiculously toned is nothing new (you’ve probably seen the amazing bikini shots from celebs including Christie Brinkley and Helen Mirren). Now 57-year-old Sharon Stone is getting in on the action, posing for Harper’s BAZAAR‘s September issue in nothing more than heels and diamonds.

And while anyone with eyeballs would say she looks amazing in the Mark Abrahams-shot black-and-white photos, Stone can’t help but be self-deprecating about the whole thing.

“I’m aware that my ass looks like a bag of flapjacks,” Stone says. “But I’m not trying to be the best-looking broad in the world. At a certain point you start asking yourself, ‘What really is sexy?’ It’s not just the elevation of your boobs. It’s being present and having fun and liking yourself enough to like the person that’s with you. If I believed that sexy was trying to be who I was when I did Basic Instinct, then we’d all be having a hard day today.” (And to prove she meant it, the star snacked on brownies between takes — no Master Cleanse and kale for her.)

Along with her positive body image, she also credits her ageless features to the dermal filler Restylane, which she started using after suffering damage from a stroke in 2001. “It’s so common now for people to use fillers, it’s almost like a beauty treatment,” she says. “It’s like you have mascara and a filler. And it’s a far better alternative than having your face cut apart and ending up looking like you got sucked into a wind tunnel.”

And though she’s feeling good about herself these days, her limited-run gig on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2010 was a tough go; she struggled to remember her lines and was not getting the sex-symbol treatment she had been used to. “That was humiliating,” she says. “I’m wearing L’eggs panty hose, and in makeup they start out by putting this white primer on my face.’ I’m like, ‘This is so bad. What did I do to deserve this?’”

Of course, many of her struggles stemmed from a 2001 aneurysm and brain hemorrhage that left her with persistent medical issues — and because of her Law & Order experience, she gave herself a pep talk that serves her well today. “I thought, ‘You know what? I got thrown off the bullet train, and now I’m going to have to crawl up a hill of broken glass, get back on the train that’s going a million miles an hour, and work my way from the cattle car up,” she recalls. “That’s just the way it is, so I’d better get humble and shut the f–k up and do the job. Because if I can’t do this job, I’m certainly not going to be able to do anything else.’”

Now that she’s getting into her acting career again, she says she’s definitely ready to find love — though the dating scene is harder than you’d think for a woman who looks like this naked at 57. “It’s so stupid. I don’t know what to do,” she says. “I’ve been getting more brazen with flirting, but I don’t think men realize that I’m flirting. They just think, Oh, she’s fun!”

So she puts out an important SOS during her interview: “If there’s anybody out there who’s an adult and who would like to ask me out,” she says, “please call Harper’s Bazaar.”
