In the market for a 100-carat diamond ring?

Well, you just lost your chance. An emerald-cut diamond weighing in at 100.2 carats mounted in platinum was just sold as part of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels Auction, and the ring sold for a very hefty price tag.

Valued at between $19 million and $25 million, the ring sold this morning for $22 million. Yes, someone just bought a ring that would give the Hope Diamond a run for its money for $22 million.

The diamond was described as being internally flawless, and can be mounted on a necklace as a pendant or the used as the ultimate engagement ring.

Surprisingly, the 100 carat diamond was not the only jewel we lusted over at the auction. There was an emerald, sapphire, lapis and diamond necklace designed by Cartier that sold for $2.6 million and an 18-karat pink diamond ring worth $2.4 million.

The auction brought in a total of over $65 million.
