As the new brand ambassador for White Diamonds Lustre Elizabeth Taylor, Nia Long had some pretty big stilettos to fill. The actress and mother of two is certainly a girl’s girl, starring in hits like “The Best Man,” “The Single Mom’s Club,” and “Judging Amy.” But her affinity for champagne, high heels and diamonds isn’t why she was the perfect fit for the new role.

It’s her natural confidence and glow.

“To be connected and affiliated with a brand that has a legacy of success and so many important contributions to our country is an honor,” she said at The Mark Hotel in New York City. “Every girl should have diamonds. Even if they’re not real diamonds. It’s a representation of how valuable we our to ourselves. It reminds us that we’re all unique because there are no two diamonds that are alike.”

For Long, this is the first major beauty deal she’s had, showing her real appreciation for the brand and its rich history. Launched in 1991 at the Marshall Field & Co department store in New York through Elizabeth Arden, White Diamonds has always been synonymous with luxury, glamour and femininity. And the notes of fruit, jasmine and sandalwood only add to this feel in each iteration.

In addition to her love of the product and beautiful fragrances in general, Long also talked about her sons and teaching them to appreciate precious things.

“I’m very strict. My son goes, ‘Mom you’re so mean!’ I’m like, ‘No, no. You’re wife is gonna thank me,’”she said wearing her Loree Rodkin earrings. “I’m not raising my children for me. I’m raising my children to be a part of the world where they can contribute something that is bigger than themselves. The most important thing for me [to teach them] is respect for women.”
