The Runway Is (Finally!) Making Room For Natural Hair

Natural hair has been a consistently growing trend as products represent an ever growing portion of the beauty market while celebs like Lupita Nyong’o, Viola Davis and Teyonah Parris rock their natural tresses on the red carpet and often in character, too. Unsurprisingly, the runway isn’t far behind.

Whether the theme of the show was a relaxed vacation vibe like Tommy Hilfiger or the chic French seaside at Ralph Lauren, afros and curls were included as part of that concept instead of being manipulated into say, a beachy wave.

Models like Karly Loyce and Lineisy Montero walked show after show with their signature coils styled to perfection, but virtually unaltered. Additionally, Tanya Taylor’s presentation (among others) gave a spectrum of lengths and shapes all in one show.
