The Summer’s Hottest Trend Is … Bandanas?

The last time we got our bandana out of a drawer was color war at our summer camp. And the last time we tied a small, jaunty scarf around our neck was, well, never, since none of us are flight attendants. But now, after seeing a handful of celebs, including Kiernan Shipka, Rita Ora and Vanessa Hudgens sport the statement accessory, we’re starting to think this unique look has staying power.

Shipka first tried the trend with a black patterned Coach bandana worn around her neck (very Wild Wild West!) during the Coach and Friends of the High Line event in N.Y.C. on Tuesday. And because the scarf was a statement on its own, she kept the rest of the ensemble simple, teaming the neckwear with a black-and-gray shift dress and black chunky platform sandals (also by Coach). Leave it to the perennial style star to make a could-be-silly look very sophisitcated and chic.

Ora recently jumped on the bandana bandwagon, sporting a delicate red, white and blue silk scarf tied around her neck during a recent trip to London. The singer-slash-actress kept the eclectic look going with denim-on-denim, a long black skirt wrapped around her jeans and a pair of platform heeled booties. Oh, and we can’t forget that starry eye makeup!
And finally, Hudgens opts for a simple, Parisian-inspired look in a LWD (little white dress), matching sneakers and her blue-and-white bandana. While the other stars added the statement piece on to their already-accessorized outfits, the actress demonstrates how the scarf is worn as the statement piece.
